Mother's Day in a Bucket

Well, now that my mom received her Mother's Day gift yesterday {albeit a tad late}, I can now make this post about her present! I was so excited to put together this gift for her. I love when I can make something special for someone knowing some of their favorite colors, smells, and style! My mom, Lois, lives in Pollock Pines, CA, only a few hours away; sadly, time didn't allow for me to drive up and deliver myself.

I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to make her...too many ideas running through my head, and then once settled upon a design and had it sewn up, I wasn't sure what I wanted the theme to be. So there was a slight delay in getting it finished and sent prior to Mother's Day, but I did get it into the mail Monday and was so glad it arrived the next day, Tuesday!

So here it is... ta-daa... !

I'm so pleased how it turned out! I found this darling fabric bucket pattern designed by, and available at, Sweetwater on Etsy. The exterior is a natural canvas. I used one of Sweetwater's fabric lines for Moda, Pure, to line the inside and to sew up a couple lavender-filled sachets {one of Mom's favorite scents}. I was drawn to this fabric collection through its sentiment and shades of cocoa, baby-doll blue, natural, and tan. It was pure and simple fun creating this fabric bucket! This is the first time I've worked with dried lavender, and I was able to find some lovely scented lavender buds from another Etsy shop, Man In The Moon Herbs. I was very pleased with the quality and promptness in which I received my purchases from both Sweetwater and Man In The Moon Herbs. I highly recommend both shops!

Once I had my awesome canvas bucket and two lavender sachets sewn up, that's when I thought to go with a spa theme and fill it with some of my mom's favorite things. I visited Bath & Body Works and chose a Shower Gel, Body Lotion, and Hand Cream all in Warm Vanilla Sugar scent, Lavender Foam Handsoap, Lavender Aromatherapy Sleep Bath Soak Salts, Lavender Aromatherapy Candle, and lastly, a nylon mesh bath scrubby. Whew! I was wondering how all this would fit inside my bucket, but as you saw, it all fit snug as a bug! I thought it packed up beautifully {and smelled fabulous!}, ready to be sent to an amazing mom!

There is so much potential for this little bucket! It stands 7" tall, with a base width of 6.5" and top width of 8". The inside can be lined using a fabric to fit a particular theme for a bridal or baby shower gift, hostess gift, birthday or thank you gift, Mother's Day or Father's Day gift, or a get well soon gift. Once unpacked it can be used functionally as an organizer of sorts. I hope to carry several of these in my Etsy shop, Wild Thyme Threads, waiting to be used functually or filled with some goodies for a special gift.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

This works perfectly in the guest bath with items placed in it,such as soaps and sponges. It will later be used for items at our local Farmer's Market. Great craftsmanship! Also love the matching sachets...
